Exams

Exam Overview
  • There are three in-person exams.
  • Note the policy about exam conflicts in the Late Homework and Missed Exams Policy. tl;dr DON'T MISS THE EXAMS.
  • The exams are closed-book except for a cheat sheet. For exams 1 and 2, this can be two double-sided sheets of paper with anything written on them, and which you have prepared yourself. For the final exam, you may use three double-sided sheets of paper.
    • It is okay to type your cheat sheet if you want.
    • There is no limit on font size, but no magnifying glasses are allowed in the exam :)
    • If you need to print out your cheat sheet, make sure you do it well in advance of the exam. (In particular, don't rely on CardinalPrint to be working at the last minute....)
Exam 1

  • Thursday, 10/16, 9am-10:20am
  • Note: the time for actually taking the exam will be 60 minutes, so that we make sure to have time for exam distribution and collection within the 80-minute exam period.

  • Covers Lecture 1 - Lecture 6; we will be mindful of the fact that you won't have had a chance to do homework on Lectures 5 or 6.

Exam 2

  • Thursday, 11/6, 9am-10:20am.
  • Note: the time for actually taking the exam will be 60 minutes, so that we make sure to have time for exam distribution and collection within the 80-minute exam period.

  • Covers Lecture 5 - Lecture 11; we will be mindful of the fact that you won't have had a chance to do homework on Lectures 10 or 11. Embedded EthiCS content is also covered (two online lectures).

Final Exam

  • Wednesday, 12/10, 8:30am-11:30am
  • Location: TBD
  • Cumulative (Lectures 1-16), with an emphasis on Lecture 10 - Lecture 16
  • Practice Exam: [will be posted closer to exam date]
  • "Unofficial" practice exams. Note: These are exams from different quarters and possibly different instructors. Those quarters may have covered or emphasized slightly different material, and will have had different homework assignments. So these might not be representative of our class's final exam. However, they are all good practice problems!
